Huzzah! I made it to Brussels

La Fran is now safely installed in Brussels, which is quite grey and very like London is some ways except the drivers are even WORSE and everyone speaks French. C'est la vie.

I appear to be working 13 hour days. This sucks, particularly as my contract says I work for 60 hours per week, Monday to Friday. So 12 hours would be fine. I couldn't complain. However the contract is based on 5 10 hour days (8-6) and 2 nights babysitting.....and while I babysit I can sit in my really rather nice room, or sleep, or do whatever I please once the kiddiwinks are in bed, not run around like a hyperactive maniac or correct small boy's English.

I whinge too much. The family are lovely - S is a little boy of 4,5 and J a little girl of only 2 months (so so so coot!). Best bit about the job so far was being given my employers credit card, PIN and instructions to buy whatever toys I wanted for the children. I restrained myself. Go me.

Many thanks for the congratulations my previous post elicited. I'm not sure whether there were more aimed at the degree or the Frenchman with a castle. For those who want one of their own I can highly recommend running in an election at the University of Birmingham and losing. That's how I snagged mine! He has brother, but said brother is younger than him (22), is in the French airforce and has a girlfriend. If he becomes available who's first in the queue for my matchmaking services? Failing that I shall do a little bit of research on his friends and see whether there any suitable candidates if people wish to give me specifications?

Much Belgian love to everyone, and Belgian chocolate too....

(PS if anyone requires real Belgian chocolate send me your address either as a message on here of use Facebook and I'll see what I can do!)

Done

Exam is done. Less carnage than I thought -at least if I wrote a composer he has the right date. It may or may not be the right composer. Roll on retakes.

(no subject)

Why is car insurance so screwy? Just because I've had an accident in the last year which wasn't my fault and was totally sorted, and I want to insure my SLOC who is, y'know, male and young it wants to charge me lots of money. About as much as my car is worth in fact. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

EJO....

I have this niggling feeling I should read her - she sounds quite good. Anyone wish to give me a list of her books and how much I should expect to pay for them? Does it make a difference if I don't read them in order?
